IT Executive Roundtable

The March IT Executive Roundtable Dinner was held in Orange County at Karl Strauss Brewery near South Coast Plaza. With 11 attendees the group was the perfect size for the conversational setting we strive for. Several first time attendees joined us, as well as a few treasured regulars of the roundtable.

We started off the evening going around the table and sharing who we are, as well as one thing we are passionate about. A refreshing deviation from the standard "Hi, my name is..." we all know so well. As you may have guessed, it wasn't uncommon in this group for one's passion to be their work. IT people love their IT.

 The chosen topic of discussion according a show of hands was End-Point Confusion; how do we attempt to manage this with the massive explosion of iPhone's, Androids, tablets, etc. And where does it stop?

Perhaps even more compelling of a topic was the evolving role of social media in our professional environment. Issues like what to share, who to share it with, funny vs. offensive, appropriate vs. inappropriate and how the once seemingly harmless posts can come back to haunt you. Not only do we need to worry about managing our own social media, but how to approach this with our employees.

As a result, one solid new development came out of this for the IT Executive Roundtable organization and LinkedIn group. We now have LinkedIn Events pages for each Lunch & Learn and Roundtable Dinner, allowing attendees to rsvp, post discussions, and see who else will be attending each event. It also serves as a relationships builder, keeping people in touch with others they met at the event and opening up opportunity for future discussion to continue beyond the roundtable.
